Arthur Kleinman Symposium

You know you’re a great teacher when your students are New York Times bestselling authors, influential leaders in medicine and global health, and the President of Dartmouth University.

When I entered college, I had never heard of anthropology nor knew what it meant. Six years later, it has changed my life thanks to Professor Arthur Kleinman, who has singlehandedly been the biggest academic influence for me. He taught me how to listen, write and engage with a heart genuinely caring for others no matter their ethnic, cultural and geographical background. He taught me what it meant to live not an important life, but a life of importance – a life of meaning and what really mattered the most. If you’re in Boston tomorrow afternoon, this is an event not to be missed.
